Aryna Sabalenka in action
The Belarusian player ended the season with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record £11m in tournament winnings.

She earned almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
